The BEST “Shave” for me is with a Philips Norelco OneBlade – Phillips OneBlade Review

Philips Norelco OneBlade Review

Shaving really irritates my neck and frequently causes me to get a rash. I have sensitive skin and have dealt with this issue for most of my life. However, a few years ago, I discovered the Phillips Norelco OneBlade rechargeable, electric trimmer. When close enough is good enough, and for me it almost always is, I use the Phillips OneBlade. Luckily, the folks at my job don’t seem to mind; so, I just shave about once a week with this trimmer. This will produce a pretty short stubble. My beard is pretty lightly colored, so it doesn’t show too much.

I have found that it seems to work best by going slow, against the grain. I use it dry, but it can be used wet as well. Shaving cream is NOT needed. I also don’t feel the need to put on any type of aftershave or lotion when done, something I did feel the need for when using a razor. I can make a blade last about 4 months, so that keeps the costs way down. Until recently, I would use hair clippers to trim my beard down before using this OneBlade. Recently, I figured out that this step is not necessary. If I go just a bit slower, I can do it all with the OneBlade. All and all, that method seems to be faster for me than the two separate steps. I think that it IS harder on the blade though. However, for me, the time savings makes it worth the minuscule extra cost. At the time of writing this, blades cost about $12.50 each on Amazon.com.

Unfortunately, when I first started shaving, these didn’t exist. They are excellent for youth just starting to shave. They are way faster and way less messy.

Pros:

  • Little to no irritation is produced
  • Very cheap compared to using real razor blades
  • Can be used wet or dry
  • No shaving cream needed
  • Takes up less room traveling than taking shaving cream and lotion
  • Ideal for youth just starting to shave

Cons:

  • Not a real shave (but close to it), leaves a short stubble
  • The skin won’t be smooth like a shave
